I hope not. But I struggle with the This Is My Scary Costume Halloween Shirt ‘hope.’ When I think of it as a rose-tinted state of escapism, I cringe. That is the space which is now wide, wide open for fashion to reform itself.
On July 12, a screening for Ron Howard’s Rebuilding Paradise took place at Jill Rappaport’s 50-acre property in Water Mill. Jane Krakowski drove in on a vintage red convertible, face mask on even though she was alone in her car. Don Lemon and his husband sat atop their car, on a blanket with their dogs in their laps. Food was served car-side, just like the This Is My Scary Costume Halloween Shirt but without the roller skates. The format worked and the Cinema Society has hosted a handful of alfresco screenings all summer long across various Hamptons properties.
